Hmm… split them down the front, and smoke them laid open on a grill…

Honestly the roe are not exciting venison. The red are much better as are the Chinese Water deer and the Mud Jack which are awesome.308Mike wrote:And how do the Roe compare to regular deer when talking about meat/flavor/taste ('cause we KNOW they won't compare to volume of meat)??CombatController wrote:The roe are small but we are culling red deer which are much larger. We just pop the occasional Roe.

But they're best when they're all in the same family, only different sandwiches.HTRN wrote: Well, technically, elk are very large deer...![]()
They're all the same family, only different branches.

Personally, I prefer Roe meat to Red Deer - the texture is finer. I had roe fillets for lunch yesterday - sprinkle with black pepper, brown in a little oil/butter for two minutes each side in a very hot cast-iron pan, then transfer to a cool (80 degree C) oven for ten minutes to relax while you make a shallot and red-wine reduction sauce. Served with potato and leek gratin. Delicious!CombatController wrote:Honestly the roe are not exciting venison. Haven't had Chinese Water Deer or Muntjac yet. Perhaps i should go to Perthshire sometime

Interesting review on scout rifles including the one under consideration.

I've said before, the FR-8 might make a decent scout rifle, if only there was an easy way to mount a scope on it. Besides, bayonet!
