Since we're talking about annoying things on Facebook (and yes, I'm on it to keep in touch with mid-level friends), I REALLY detest getting posts about fake things that can actually be found in Snopes or other sites. Check your "facts" before you post some idiotic thing. This also applies to e-mails from families and friends.
one can be a Democrat, or one can choose to be an American.
Good acting requires an imagination; reality requires a person not getting lost in their imagination.

A-freaking-men. Some people really do believe that all you hear on the internet is true, except when it's Snopes, because they're liberal and can't be trusted. Someone's aunt's best friend's brother who worked next to someone who says they "know" - those people believe that. Never learned the lessons from forwarded emails even after all these years. I'm surprised I've not been unfriended for debunking that crap and pissing off the debunkees, which amazingly, is always the same people.

If anyone finds it useful or worthwhile, best wishes and all. I just find it like heading to the crap side of town, because there's a great something or other, and always feeling like I'd need a shower when I got home. As if I don't get enough of that, or hordes of perennially adolescent self-important jackholes with no discernable brainwave activity, just by working in Hollywood on occasion.
You live in a far more septic world than I. Obviously there are things about FB that get under my skin, but by and large I enjoy the interactions with the folks I know.
A gun is a tool, Marian; no better or no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that.

The country or the river?
Let's not tell them that there have been phD's awarded for analysis of that literary work of art, "N****r as Narcissus."
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
