Darlin' Daughter and I attended a book signing of his here in Dayton this evening.
Over 2 hours of entertaining talk in an informal atmosphere. I scored major Daddy Points (to quote Darlin' Daughter "Summer=Complete"). I even got my MHI hat signed (actually one I wore in Korea and I pulled the rank off of it a couple of years ago and put on the MHI patch)
Picture so it happened:
He's in good company. The only other author I have a picture of is working a signing of David Drake in 2001
Oh, and Chris, Larry said to say "Hi". We discussed your Red Shirt appearance in Dead Six

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Was that the bookstore at The Greene? I can't remember the name. Books & Co. I think. I met James Rollins there last summer. My wife took a picture of me and him, but I can't find it right now.

RR, the "imitation" Books & Co. at The Greene (I'm a little biased because I worked at the "real" B&C many moons ago). Actually the first time I've been in this incarnation.
Since it was the wife's camera, first thing I did when I got home was download the pics to keep them from getting misplaced.

Good taste, well done. And I would have loved to work a David Drake signing, we never had anything that cool.

No one famous EVER signs books in El Paso; but fear not, my autographed copy arrived in the mail today.

OUTSTANDING!!!!

POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.
I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Coolest thing I ever worked was a meet-and-greet for Linus Torvalds. About 15 years ago, you had to have been a dedicated geek to have heard of him. Turnout was some very odd folks. He's a funny guy, but his wife is more interesting in person.Rod wrote:No one famous EVER signs books in El Paso; but fear not, my autographed copy arrived in the mail today.
The David Drake thing- I would like to meet him, and I'd be honored to be one of the people who helps provide him with a proper working environment, if only temporarily.
