A HS friend of mine was murdered on the Northshore a few weeks ago. It seems some little bastard was stalking her daughter, so they filed a restraining order against him. He violated it of course. A warrant was issued for his "pacing back and forth in front of their house repeatedly." One morning shortly thereafter, he confronted my friend in her front yard. He pulled a handgun and opened fire as she tried to run.

Get the restraining order just to document the problem, or don't, but I'm not telling anybody anything new when I say it is worth fuck all. To be brutally honest, the best way to handle this would be to get a few buddies together, find the guy someplace where any help would be a ways off and use your best judgment. Make his insane thoughts take a back seat to the crippling pain from the last meeting and the knowledge of certain very bad things that will follow any actions on his part. He needs to remember how to fear.

In short, calibration.

Document, get restraining orders, change her routine, etc. (Stuff you already know.)

Maybe try to get her to do some force-on-force work? Take her hunting? Something which gets her more familiar with how she has to respond if she sees him.

Does she know what he looks like?

I ASSUME she's also in LA??? In Commiefornia, there's actually a code section which allows someone to CCW if they are under direct threat from a violent attack (also usually documented by USELESS restraining order[s] - the more the merrier), so although they don't actually have PERMISSION to CCW, it is a defense against any charges of CCW should they be caught CCW).

Even though it's a different state, if you want/need the CA code sections, I can look them up for you at (it's under the PENAL CODE): http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes.xhtml

I can only hope a state like LA has such legislation or legislation to cover the defense of someone under such a threat. As screwed-up as CA is, in many ways we're way ahead of the rest of the nation when it comes to protecting people - but it's too bad they REFUSE to allow people the ability to ROUTINELY protect themselves, AS PER THE US CONSTITUTION!!

She's more a friend of a friend, not close enough for me to risk getting myself sent to Angola for life. (If it was Ms. !Ludite that was getting the emails, he'd be on a milk carton already, and I wouldn't be discussing the topic.) As for a blade, I mentioned the clinch-pickin the original post. She already knows how to shoot, and knew exactly what a clinch-pick is for. The buddy that I know her through is with the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and she has friends of her own with the NOPD, so the creep should be meeting with some Official Displeasure soon.

If she lives alone, could you suggest she stay with a friend?

Today's dose of crazy after someone not me had a word with him.
You Are A Whore

You don't love me. I thought that you were special. You are just like the others. We are over. I do not ever want to see you again! God sees you! You will not be part of my collection!!!!
You can tell it wasn't me because he's clearly not typing with his nose after having his fingers broken. The "not being part of his collection" bit is particularly creepy. If the previous ones weren't PC, that certainly seems to fit the definition. The "just like the others" bit is worrisome, if only because if he'd stoop to that old of a cliche', he'd be capable of anything.

Yeah, he was hiding in their house, under their bed, waiting to ambush her husband and kids when they went back home. Pretty substandard police work all the way around. A deputy was at the house, but left to take a call. They knew he had broken in after that, left a hand print on window that was left open, but apparently never searched the house. It would appear that during the ENTIRE manhunt, he was still at the scene. An acquaintance shot him after they lucked into finding him, but he survived.

I wonder if that's enough for PC for a warrant to search his residence? Any recent missing persons that approximate your friend's physical description?
