Why do people feel the need to disprove the beliefs of others?

Guess it is cause they use their beliefs as a way of bludgeoning us with their morality.

Well, one reason to hate each other is as good as another. Let's go burn us a Pentecostal.

Hate? Please. All there's been here is a calm conversation. Bludgeoning? Is that a synonym for calm, reasoned discourse? I'll look it up. Us religious types are a little slow. It's a result of all the inbreeding, you know.

Nor was I trying to disprove anyone's beliefs. Here is the essence of the conversation:

"I'm an American!"
"Neat! What state were you born in?"
"Actually, none."
"Oh. You were born overseas on a military base? Cool!"
"No."
"Ooookay... So, you've applied for citizenship?"
"Not at all."
"Huh. Your parents are American?"
"Nope. Not a bit."
"When have you been to America?"
"Never. Not even once."
"Okay, I have some bad news for you. You're not American."
"Who the HELL do you think you are trying to push your narrow, bigoted views down my throat!"

The fact is, there either is a definition of Christianity, or there isn't.

Those are your two options.

Pick one.
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

Guess it is cause [strike]they use their beliefs as a way of bludgeoning us with their morality[/strike] it is amusing to do so.

FIFY. Same reason as for most of what you post here.

Just offer Mormans a beer, and pretend ignorance when they say they can't drink one.

Actually, I understand their stance on alcohol consumption and tobacco. It's the coffee/tea/chocolate thing that befuzzles me.
