Right now, all this needs to be put on hold. Plugged in my ide/sata controller pci card, and pressed the power button, and..............nothing.
Turned everything off, removed the controller card, turned everything back on, and still nothing.
Turned everything back off and removed all power supply cables, and tested each connector with my go-nogo tester, and got all good lights from each connector on the power supply cables and the power supply fan was moving air. Unfortunately, I don't have a load tester, so to narrow it down to a power supply load problem or a fried mobo problem, I'll attempt to drive a used Intel mobo into the chassis and see if it will work.
Mobo is under warranty, power supply is not.
Later, probably much later.

Re: Error 651
Stripped everything down, and on a whim reconnected just the essentials.
Came right back up. Plugged in the pci-e controller card, and it powered up, but wouldn't read the DVD drives, so I went ahead and ordered two SATA dvd drives from Newegg, They're cheap enough.
More later, as I continue banging my head against this stone wall.

That reminds me of something.... Sorry for the minor hijack, but does anyone have a reputable source for a SATA DVD burner that isn't black? What ever happened to beige?

Some come with replacement beige front bezels, which should be listed under package contents.Greg wrote:That reminds me of something.... Sorry for the minor hijack, but does anyone have a reputable source for a SATA DVD burner that isn't black? What ever happened to beige?
But, back to the ongoing drama. I finally found the correct Realtek driver and installed it. No more error 651. Now, all I have to do is install the new DVD drives when they come in, and I might be home free.

All good now. I'm ready to slap the side covers on and call it done. And, good riddance.
