I started out on a Farmall Cub dragging a disc, or a spreader (grass seed or fertilizer) in a 40 acre pasture. Thought I was the baddest MoFo on the planet, at 8 years old!

In my mind I'm still 30, with a full head of hair (and 70 lbs lighter). 'Course when I do wear my sweatstained cowboy hat, my kids wince and the neighbors are amused. Cityfolk...
LOL...Maybe even 25 here. I do have the full head of hair and it's still mostly the original color so I feel like I should get carded more (dreamer) I did get asked if I was old enough to buy ammo the other day by a clerk who obviously wasn't serious :( I'd only need to be 35 lbs lighter to be my "younger" weight. No laughs from the cowboy hat but my son does ridicule me about the suspenders......I think he should appreciate them, considering the alternative :o

Yup, tractors are handy for all sorts of yard and garden work. This is Little Allis tugging a 1600lb crate from the front of the trailer to where Fat Allis the forklift can reach it

DwightG,
The tractor I graduated to from the Cub was an Allis just about like that one. Figure the odds...

 May be some sort of parallel universe thing going on here...be afraid, be very afraid! :o

I find, when graduating to bigger/better/newer/whatever, it's best to just keep the old one too. That way you always have a back-up...or several...

Some is good, more is better. Even with tractors.

HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

Very cool!
I need a tractor for all the things you need a tractor for. Cutting meadows, moving firewood up the hill, keeping the driveway squared away, etc. Looking at a Ford 4wd.

That recycled aggregate compacts so beautifully because it's a blend of the sizes. Great stuff. Before this material was available we used a blend of crushed stone, from dust to 3/4" sizes, that we called Quarry Process in the NY-NJ area.

Yes, well, one of them. The inner tube was leaking calcium so I had to dismount the tire, wash, clean and paint the rim. It's happy now for a while anyway. The tires are really old, probably not the originals (or maybe they are?) but they were really old when I bought it 20+ years ago so it's anyones guess when they'll let go.

My other "working" tractor is a 1945 Minnie-Mo "Z". It's currently on crutches awaiting time to rivet on new rims. I had noticed it listing to starboard one day in the corner of the shop and discovered a puddle of calcium on the floor and an 18" tear in the sidewall. The rim was pretty badly corroded so I've got it cut off the wheel and have new rims and tires waiting for time to get it all back together. It's only been a little over a year since it first failed. All things in good time. That's why I think it's a good idea to keep a backup ;)
