Did they do the scene with the officer telling his troops to go to all the gun stores to get the 4473 forms?

Not sure I'd want to go out of my way to pay them money to encourage them to rape the cultural artifacts of my childhood. Voting with my wallet, as it were. By keeping it closed.

The second time I watched the first version, they left out this part! Tipping their hand?

Think of it as educating another generation.

Run repeats of the original on AMC or something.

I did just that. My son walked in to the room while I was looking up the trailer for the 2012 version. He didn't know what the movie was about so I asked him if he has seen the original. Nope. So, I pulled up a streaming video of the original movie and we just finished watching it. Well, basically, he watched the movie, I spent most of the time identifying the 1980 series and earlier weapons for him. His knowledge of guns comes mostly from video games.

Yup, but make sure that you explain that Hollywood opportunists will dare not offend America's long term rivals if their pockets are deep enough.

And when they remake that (and screw it up) I won't see it, either.
