Any opinions on the Lucas Disney buyout and 7th SW movie?

Post by bubblewhip »

If you've been around I think you guys have heard of Disney buying out Lucasfilm.

In the process they also announced a 7th movie to the Star Wars series.

In all honesty I have no problem with this, Disney is a quite fitting match to the Star Wars series at this moment, and I think that the cartoon of the Clone Wars which is surprisingly popular with kids wouldn't be bad for Disney animators and story writers to work in that universe.

As far as the 7th movie, some people are crying foul but come on... Lucas has already effectively wrecked Star Wars at this point with those 3 movies. Disney has talented people and people who no doubt care about Star Wars when they were young. There's a very good chance the 7th movie will actually be very good for Star Wars fans and new fans alike.

New Star Wars themed attractions at theme parks will also be a really cool prospect as well.

Now if they only will allow LucasArts to make a new X-Wing game. Although an X-wing attraction at Disneyland/world would also be cool.

On the one hand it's Disney. On the other it's not like Lucas has been doing the series any favors. Either way it won't be my childhood being "raped".

I just realized that this could result in a Star Wars movie written and directed by Joss Whedon. My god...

They can't do any worse than the prequels. At the very least, replacing Jar Jar with Goofy would be a step up, IMO...
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

I'll just leave this here. ;)

I can't say I don't agree, after what that bastard Lucas did to my childhood

I think this is a good thing. The best star wars film was Empire. IMHO because Lucas had someone else direct it.
