Re: Looking Ahead
We here in Alaska need to make sure that Sarah is knocked out in the next gubernatorial primary, and that she never acts on a national level again.

I'd stock up on gas too. My guess is that the US will see prices go over $6 within two years, if not sooner, and I wouldn't be surprised to see double that here. (And maybe we'll even get those nice gas ration coupons from the Carter years back.)JAG2955 wrote:I sure hope that Urkel's presidency will teach the country that no, we really can't depend on the government for much of anything, and maybe if we're really lucky, there'll be a turn around in personal values between now and 2012.
*Sigh*, time to buy some guns, ammo, and lay in a stock of non-perishable food.
I wonder if anyone who voted for the One will actually learn anything from what happens. The One and the media will spin any disaster as being "bad luck", "Bush's fault", "the republicans fault", and just bring back "malaise", and offer more "tax cuts" to the people who dont pay any taxes.
And after they get that Fairness doctrine done, there will be less and less people with an opportunity to offer another view.

Re: Looking Ahead
The next year before the next House Election cycle gets started will be the most difficult. After that even the Dems have start listening to us. e.g. See how quiet it got on the Amnesty stuff this past year.
So in the next 12-18 months we all need to get our game faces, bring our "A" game and be sure to keep our dogs fed and in the fight.
By keeping our fed dogs fed I mean supporting with regular $ RKBA and freedom orgs (NRA, CRPA, GOA, JPFO, ACLJ, ADF, Thomas More Center, Fred Pac, whoever).
Little thing$ add up.
Credit Cards:
-- I've been meaning to canx my United Airlines Visa and replace it with an NRA Visa. The time is now. I've procrastinated long enough.
-- Always check the "roundup" box on your Midway orders
-- Teach someone to shoot. A Nation of Riflemen! Remember?
-- Give everyone in your household an NRA membership. Recruit a few more. Give gift Jr NRA memberships to nieces and nephew at Xmas or birthdays.
-- push more news, political funnies out to a regular list of friends, family and colleagues. Most of them are clueless and don't pay attention to political goings on until 1-2 weeks before an election. We need to get the message out beyond this (much loved and appreciated) gunnie echo chamber.
I don't want to start another NRA flame fest or restart the Wayne La Pierre roast and won't rise to any challenges. Suffice to say "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." That includes the NRA.

I agree with mekender - the Religious Right sees Palin as "Reagan in a Skirt".

Net,
I agree with mekender, but am curious what's with the hate for Palin?

Re: Looking Ahead
Let me derail this thread.
We have a small problem. All our established political figures at the national level have feet of clay. They have committed some perceived sin(s) in the past to make them unworthy of our vote.
All the fresh faces in the Republican Party are by definition, callow and uninformed.
If we are waiting for a fresh face with experience, we will be here a very long time indeed.
And we have to play the political game if we are ever going to be relevant again.
Obama played the political game brilliantly, surrounding himself with old political pros from the Clinton, Carter and Daley machines. The local, county, and state level operations were damned near flawless, allowing Obama to be above the political fray.
We need to look ahead to the off year elections, and work to get the people we want elected to Congress so they have a national voice, and in 2012 work for a new candidate (and I consider Sarah Palin a new candidate, although she isn't my only choice).
Someone has already mentioned Palin/Jindal ticket for 2012, although I would be more comfortable if it were Jindal/Palin. They aren't the only choices, but are the most obvious ones.
Basically, we need new blood in DC, so look at replacing the "old pols" in the primaries and working like hell for the fresh faces in the general election.
And make damned sure they keep their promises this time around (Contract with America reference).

Re: Looking Ahead
Took a look at Jindal on wikipedia.org. I doubt they'll ever run anyone like him again.
Looks as though the middle ground is where it's at. Next time we won't (hopefully) be up against a new, charismatic young black man.
