Read it and weep for humanity. http://www.theawl.com/2012/07/the-40-year-old-reversion
That's not my sort of scene, but I know of people like that. I went to school with people like that, it's my generation all right. Or at least part of it. We learned it from our parents, the never-sufficiently-to-be-damned Boomers.

Maybe we're just jaded, but your villainy is not particularly impressive. -Ennesby

Why is this important?
A weak government usually remains a servant of citizens, while a strong government usually becomes the master of its subjects.

More seriously, I never claimed it was important. But it's rather common here for people to share links to things they find interesting. Let's not be a dick, eh?

Clarification: I was referring to the people in the article. That is all...

Yeah. maybe. This is far too frequently what happens to upper-middle-class urban blue staters- including the "best" of them, the ones who are invested enough in life and the future to have children. Know thy enemy.Dub_James wrote:An overhead view of the kinds of things people are getting up to can be useful.
Take it as a cautionary tale, or an opportunity (children either turn out like their parents, or exactly the fucking opposite). It was the 70's- my own parents were FAR too much like this (though without actually having money, or anything like that). "It was the fucking 70's, man." Imagine a GENERATION like me. Start preparing now.

It's late 30s/early 40s women who have their head so far up their ass, they can smell their own breath.
They have no clue what they want, except to "be happy". And they don't know what would make them "happy". The idea of being content with their somewhat successful lives is completely foreign to them.

They always want to trade up, and with them in their late 30s, with their primary commodity becoming a depreciating asset(their looks), it's the last chance to get a better significant other. Most who go ahead with this usually wind up with something worse, as most guys who are a "step up"(money, carreer, looks, etc) aren't interested in middleaged divorcees with children as anything but bedwarmers.Termite wrote:They have no clue what they want, except to "be happy".
