C-RAM at work

Post by Cybrludite »

Here's a video of the land-based version of the Navy's 20mm Vulcan CIWS shooting down a mortar shell.

Niiiiice.

Now all that's missing is getting an accurate automatic counter-mortar/rocket battery to finish the job. Balad got shelled almost every other day I was there, so they definately need it.

Awsome: Sounded like a muted buzz saw going off.

One of the comments:
People that *guess* shouldn't post as if they *Know* The complete C-RAM system networks a ground-based version of Phalanx together with the Army's Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR) and Q-36 Target Acquisition Radar (AN/TPQ-36 Firefinder Radar). Unlike the naval version, C-RAM does not fire solid tungsten penetrators. Instead, self-destructing explosive bullets are used, in order to reduce the risk of civilian and friendly casualties.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

HTRN, I would tell you that you are an evil fucker, but you probably get that a lot ~ Netpackrat

I'm just really glad it's ours.
