War Speed - Travis Taylor. Doc Taylor is a good read if you like your SciFi a little heavy on the science.

The Chessmen of Mars by Edgar Rice Borroughs. At this point I'm reading it just to finish it. I have the new Honor Harrington book and some others on order.

I have some Edgar Rice Burroughs in the "some day" pile. Is it your opinion that he's more of a classic (everyone wants to have read it, but no one wants to read it) than a good read?

I've really only read the first Tarzan, and I enjoyed it. I have picked up some of his sci-fi over the years for some day, but I haven't read any of it.

I haven't read anything of his other than the Barsoom series so far. I liked the first 2-3, but they get a little repetitive.

I Dreamed of Africa, a true story which was also made into a motion picture (with some GREAT cinematography!) - it was one of the first movies my wife and I watched together when we first started dating. Without the stunning visual imagery, so far the book is only slightly better than the movie, but I suspect that'll change as I get into parts of the book not covered in the movie.

I've read the first three Barsoom books thus far, and if there's any series I'd ever go so far as to describe as rip-roaring adventure novels, those would be it. Lots of fun.

On the flight back from Minneapolis I finished Robert Heinlein's "Grumbles From The Grave", and got in about a third of Hal Clement's "A Mission Of Gravity" on the connecting flight from Memphis to New Orleans.

Yes, almost non-stop action. I'm going to try to see the movie soon.
