There's a coupla mods out there for porta bands - HF for instance, sells one that makes it into a mini horizontal bandsaw.
Then there's this if you want a vertical setup.. A guy on Pirate4x4 sells something similar.

Re: Benchtop Bandsaw
I considered and rejected both of those because the geometry of the saws that they take is sub-optimal for vertical use cutting out brackets and stuff. The motor on the newer design saws is right in the way of cutting a longer part off a piece of plate/sheet. The DW328 and older Porter Cable units have the motor mounted out of the way, giving more clearance between the blade and the rest of the saw. I also saved some money doing it my way since the DW328 is a little cheaper than the newer units, and I didn't have to buy much material (most of it I had on hand), but that wasn't really a consideration.CByrneIV wrote:Yes... both of which he referenced in his linked postHTRN wrote:There's a coupla mods out there for porta bands - HF for instance, sells one that makes it into a mini horizontal bandsaw.

Re: Benchtop Bandsaw
I finished the table a few days ago; finally got a chance to snap a picture of it. I still need to get some longer screws, but to change blades, all I have to do is remove the 4 10-32 screws, lift the table up and off, and then change the blade as normal, without removing the saw from the base. Which in itself would only take a few seconds. Now all it needs is some paint.
