Star Wars: The Old Republic has a pro-gun writer

Post by Cobar »

I about fell out of my chair when I the conversation. Putting it in a spoiler in case anyone wants to find it themselves.
If you play smuggler you have a conversation with your companion, Corso where he talks about getting his first blaster from a guy. The guy told him it was just a tool that could destroy people or protect your loved ones from the people that would destroy them. Then he talks about how when he went home his parents made him lock it up and then it didn't have it to defend his family when the separatists killed them.
When he first stared talking about it I was half expecting a "guns are bad" thing, then he came out with that :o

I noticed that as well. Also, my trooper is running around with a gun the size of a jet ski that is commonly sold in the market and delivered to me by mail. Utopia or "interesting times?"

Over on the Imperial side a character starts paraphraseing Rumsfields "you go to war with the army you have" bit during the Bounty Hunter story.

So have you found a store named 'Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms' yet?

If Lucas was involved, it would have been "guns are bad."

That is really what I was expecting to hear. I sort of wondered of someone from this board infiltrated the Bioware studios and edited the script.

Bioware's always been kinda hard to read on this. Sure, I can refuse to stop carrying guns where it's not allowed in Mass Effect 1/2, but it's always the Renegade option.

I keep getting the D&D alignment feel from these things. lawful good, chaotic evil, etc. They don't always equate following the rules with good.

If Lucas had been involved I would have to wait until the mobs shot at me before I could attack.
