SmartPhones
I recently bought a new smartphone, so I was wondering what kind you guys might have and what you think of them. Sound off if you got one.

Had a Blackberry Curve 8530. Enjoyed it at first, but when the novelty wore off, I wanted something better. I've currently got a Galaxy S and love it. I want to have Android's babies.

Re: SmartPhones
I have a htc Desire. Great phone, the only thing I don't like is that the internal memory isn't really big enough for the applications you need. And of course it needs to be charged constantly, my previous phone lasted over a week if I didn't call too much with it. Smartphones has to be charged all the time, so i have it in a charger whenever I'm at my desk.
The htc desire works well as a phone, which is my main priority, but it also has a lot of useful apps available. And if you install a big microSD you can use it as a backup USB drive.
Used to have an iPhone. I guess it was ok as a novelty toy for a while, but it was useless as a phone. Never could get a decent connection with it, the sound disappeared while talking and sometimes it just hung up. Finally I returned it and told them to quit trying to sell it to people that actually need a cellphone for work instead of kids that like it because it has games. From what I've heard iPhones hasn't got any better since I got rid of it.

Droid X. Love it. Only thing I don't like about it is the delayed shutter on the camera. Sometimes takes a few seconds to snap the pic.
First Android phone was an HTC Eris. It was a POS
I'm due for an update. I have a few phones for my business. So I always get the new one, hand my "old" one down to my foreman, he hands his down.... The Samsung Nexus Prime is looking like my next phone.

Re: SmartPhones
Don't have one, yet. I've been weighing my options for a long time- I'm very picky, and cheap.
For anyone like me, who wants to test the waters without large, long-term commitments, there is now an option just for us. Stay away from Virgin Mobile, they suck. Seriously. But TMobile and Walmart have partnered to offer a $30/month, no contract, data plan. For your $30, you get 100 anytime minutes (talk is not an emphasis here), unlimited texts and unlimited data (first 5GB/month at HSPA+ aka '4G', aka fauxG speed, anything over that throttled to 2G speed). The only thing is, you have to provide the phone. I am *this* close to picking up a G2 from one of the more reputable sellers on the 'bay. (Yes it's a year-old phone but it's still a competitive mid-range option, and you can find them in good shape for well under $200.)

Galaxy S2 and loving it. Downside is fast battery drain when using the screen for something like movies, or extended web browsing. Juice Defender app helps a lot.

Samsung Galaxy S.
I like it. Pandora is an awesome app. If you use internet a lot, it drains the battery quick.

If you are thinking of 4G, make sure you check to see if it's available in your area. Thankfully, I have it in my area. My buddy was over yesterday to watch football. Showed me his 4G Droid Bionic. Blew my 3G Droid X out of the water when we loaded the same sites.
Check data rates and throttling. Thankfully, two of my numbers are grandfathered w. Verizon and I get unlimited.
+1 to the battery drainage. Get a few AC charger and a car charger. Use them. These guys offer very good quality higher-cap batteries for a lot of phones: http://www.seidioonline.com/

Re: SmartPhones
I ended up with a Droid Thunderbolt 4g. doesn't do me much good since where I live, it's still 3g, but its fun to use when I get to town. I just went round and round with Verizon about getting rid of all the unwanted apps that came pre-installed on this thing and they told me they cannot do it. Their argument was the phone was by HTC and it was them cowardly b......ds who have contracts with blockbuster, lets golf, peep and all that other crap I would just like to have off of there. It comes set up to automatically update all of those so my wife was going over her data usage just trying to keep up. I am grandfathered in on the unlimited plan but it still got under my skin 'cause I am the poor schlep who's paying for it. They finally gave me a little credit to make up for it. I said that I thought the process of auto updates on pre-loaded apps was a money making scam but they didn't agree with me. They also didn't take me seriously about the class action lawsuit threat which is probably good because it was a hollow threat anyway, but still.........

Re: SmartPhones
Can you turn off the auto update? The only way you can remove the bloatware is to root the phone.
