I've been wanting to pick up a copy of that - I've read bits and pieces online, what did you think of it?Cybrludite wrote:Last weekend I read, Webb's "Born Fighting"

Yeah, I did, and then went over to Amazon to grab a link and photo of the book cover.Jered wrote:Did you have to google my guy, Mike?
I seem to recall seeing your last name in one of the books. I thought you might be related somehow - but since that name is not uncommon, I didn't think too much about it at the time. IIRC, he was mentioned as being a member of another team which was heading out on a patrol.CByrneIV wrote:IF you read all of the Linderer books, more than one of the stories features my father in it. Patriots by David Drake is also a pretty good read. I just finished it.

Just finished the first two Tarzan novels today. I'd never read them before, having had all the fun of reading fiction stomped out by assigned readings in middle school of Julie of the Wolves, The Pigman, and pretty much everything by Judy Blume. Why the teachers didn't assign books like this I'll never know. Endless reports about "modern issues" in youth fiction can really ruin reading for some people.
The teachers also refused to accept a book report about the 1979 Chilton Manual for Ford F150 trucks. Hey, at least I read something over Easter break...

Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Just finished Hard Magic. Whoa! Damn! Definitely recommended. And with John Moses Browning (PBUH) as a character, it would almost be sacrilegious for a serious gunny to not read it.
Eagerly awaiting Dead Six (not much of ones for e-ARCs, rather wait for the final published copy. Read too many ARCs when working at a book store that had major changes in the final version).
Larry is quickly moving up the scale as massive time and funds sink compared to David Drake, David Weber Eric Flint and John Ringo.
Speaking of Ringo...
Getting ready to start Live Free or Die, followed by the rest of the series (at least the ones published to date).

...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Read MH: Alpha last week.... I was gonna save it for this trip I am on now, but I figured I could read the first chapter or so harmlessly enough. Wrong. Didn't eat, didn't sleep, didn't go anywhere or do anything until it was finished.

After I finished Scalzi's Agent To The Stars (eh, it was okay), I started rereading vol 3 of Shelby Foote's Civil War. I have the Monster Hunter books on order, I'll probably start those when they arrive.

Finished MH: Alpha this week, and I'm still working on Hard Magic. Also trying to read Born to Run.

I remember that one as being a little different... IIRC, nobody dies. In a David Drake book! But I enjoyed it. I know I'm looking forward to Into the Hinterlands.Jered wrote:Patriots by David Drake is also a pretty good read. I just finished it.
Almost the same here, except I just couldn't stay awake. Then I had to go to work... Still have 40+ pages left! Grrrrr.Netpackrat wrote:Read MH: Alpha last week....
