every time a story comes out about obama, it is another person that he knows that is a shady character... it would stand to reason that obama himself is a shady character... the question of weather or not he can be indicted for a crime is not rediculous...

Depends on when the story comes out. This Ayers stuff was pretty much ignored by Hilldog in the primary, and ignored by McCain until the story became about the economy. Pretty strange if Obama really does pal around with terrorists, unless:

So maybe it's just a desperate attempt to control the news cycle.

Anybody can be indicted for a crime. But it's ridiculous to draw that conclusion about Obama based on this story, which assumes Fitzgerald's interest can only mean he is the target. A governor who is already known to be the subject of the investigation is a pretty big and obvious target.

None of these facts, by itself, tells you that much about Barack Obama. A reasonable person should, however, be able to look at this motley crew of left-wing communists and America-haters, realize that Barack Obama's rolodex is a veritable Who's Who of American Socialism, be very, very disturbed by that fact and ask some very probing questions about WHO Barack Obama is, WHAT he believes, and WHY this gang of radical America-haters considers Barack Obama such a good friend.

Not really. Stories can frequently change and either make a bigger story or not at all depending on what information is available at the time. Usually, the longer they dig into a shady person's past, the more dirt they'll dig up on him - so don't be surprised if they keep digging and they find more crap and all of a sudden it's "convenient" to have that information now made public. Also, you can say something about someone's past and bring up up numerous times, but until THEY are ready to look at it, nobody else might even care, and NOW they care.

What crime can you be indicted for? Not everyone can be indicted for a crime. First of all, the elements of the crime need to be established to a degree required by law and the grand jury (or whatever indicting authority there is) must agree - hence they issue the indictment.

This story is not created out of thin air, it's based on the Sun Times story, and if they've done their homework, it might not be ridiculous to believe that at all. And the end of the story tells us it's clearly not over yet:

Unfortunately, he even admits it won't happen before the election.

So, we *might* be looking at an impeachment and imprisonment of a sitting US President *IF* the odorous one is elected, so we'd be looking at a more experienced replacement to fill his HopeChange shoes - one's who's been more locked into the established ways of Congress for more than 30 years.
