I did eHarmony a few years ago... Plan on spending a LONG time filling out the "interview".

The worst thing about it is they pick the women for you.* They'll send you a few each day. You can't browse around. I did not email ONE woman from the "matches" they sent me. The women there are looking to get married. No ifs ands or buts.... they want to get married! If that's your game, it may be good for you. I'm divorced and NOT looking to get married again. Unless a gun-toting supermodel comes along and insists I don't sign a pre-nup....

Match.com has given me the best results. I've had two semi-long term relationships (over a year) with women I met on Match. I've also been on plenty of "one time" dates that went nowhere. I guess I'm weird as I don't mind dating. I actually enjoy meeting new women, even if it doesn't work out. And I always pick a decent place to eat. So at the very least, I get a good meal.

Plentyoffish.com is a large free dating site. My general finding is the women are of lesser quality than those on Match.com.

I'm doing eHarmony myself. Geography works against me...almost all matchups are 70 miles up the road. Age, potbelly, discriminating tastes, and distance count against me, too. I've gotten very, very few dates. The only reason I keep bothering is that I'm stubborn.

Errrm, that's sorta the point of the EHarmony thing, no? There's a reason it's called EHarmony -- not EHookup.

Of course, if a fella's looking to keep playing in the minors and just look for a hookup then he can take all the advice he wants from da play'ahs in the crowd who specialize in short term, low investment, low trust usage of women. Them's easy picking's. Any fool can get lucky in that league. If, OTOH a fella's looking for "a decent woman" with happy lifetime potential, maybe he'd be wise to "follow success" as they say in Amway training. More that a few guys here beyond the 25 yr mark happily and still counting.

You could do a whole lot worse. There's a whole lotta intersection with my life and Phillipines and Phillipino culture. They value family, have a lot of overlap with American/western values, know how to laugh and eat reaaaallly good.

... and no need to waste balut on someone who doesn't enjoy it.

I think the ones on the site I'm using aren't geeky enough. But I am looking at the possiblity of marriage as the end result of dating. So I don't rule anyone out until after a first date. Besides, this is the first one who hasn't been at least 90 miles away...
