Speaking as someone who had a mis-spent youth and over compensated for low self esteem by getting in a lot of fights with bigger, badder people ( everyone is bigger and badder than me :D ) that Paul Vunak stuff makes an awful lot of sense.

When you are entering a fight as an underdog, be it because you are some angry at the world skinny asshole who never knew when to back down ( like I was ), or a decent upstanding citizen who doesn't want to be a victim ( like you guys ) then you need an equaliser.

The best equaliser which isn't an actual weapon is being prepared to go a little bit further than the other guy. Biting is an awesome technique. Being bitten by another human being is extremely painful but also demoralizing. I have seen it end fights very quickly.

The last time I used it was when I got into a brawl at a biker pub. I didn't start it, but I deliberately over reacted to a minor insult because the local chapter of the Hells Angels were there and being an asshole I didn't want to lose face in front of them :?
I hit the guy first, we swapped some punches and then he got me in a headlock. I didn't even have to think about what to do next, I just bit his inner thigh as hard as I could.
One second he's winning, the next he's screaming " He bit me, he bit me !!!! " like a little bitch.
He, like 90% of people you will meet, was prepared to trade punches and wrestle, but he gave up almost instantly when confronted with someone who was going to do whatever it took to win.

HS, that sounds like an older version of what I witnessed from the barracks while stationed in Millington TN, for my aviation "A" school.

Several squids (sailors) had cornered a Marine near one of our barracks (and I looked out the window to see what all the commotion was about), and while I watched, these eight or so sailors were getting ready to start pounding on this Marine (and Marines were getting ready to pour out of the barracks and pound the hell out of the sailors), when he reached down and grabbed a frog that was nearby. He held the frog up in front of the sailors, then bit its head off and spit it out at the sailors, and with a growl, he shouted at them (holding the dead and dripping frog in his hand), "Okay, who's next???"

The sailors were all grossed out and wanted no part of this crazy Marine and quickly dispersed (especially as Marines came out of the barracks ready to do some stomping) - but the frog incident happened so fast and before anyone came out of the barracks that it was obvious his actions stopped the sailors cold. I've never forgotten that incident (and I bet others who witnessed it haven't either - it made an audible crunching noise when he bit the frog's head off, and my room was on the third floor).
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

Absolutely. Eye gouging, biting, foot stomps, headbutts, elbows, knees to the head, throat groin. Learn to do it with proper use of body mechanics and physics (skill) and intent to eliminate their ability to produce and offense (killer instinct). Everything else is academic, sport or excersize when it comes to fighting for survival.

Basically look up the UFC rules regarding illegal techniques and get good at doing everything that on the list.

That's why I like Okinawan karate...we learn that sort of thing from the first day. Elbow strikes, spear hand to the neck and eyes...one of our basic katas has a section where you chop an opponent in the throat, grab his head, smash it with your elbow, wrench the head around, throw him, and punch him in the kidneys on his way down. Nasty stuff.

Mike, that sounds like the guy was motivated by the same desire as I was when I pulled the Irish Mob stunt.
