I've spent a fair amount of time, in years past, walking in some obscure areas. The least I carried was a .44 Magnum. Preferred a 12 gauge pump with an appropriate mix of buck and slugs.

Yeah, the dogs smell it and get nervous and hang around close. From what I understand they never attack a group (unless you count the lions of Tsavo) but will stalk to see if anyone peels off. Almost never see them but I see lots of tracks.

I visited Tsavo West in 1985. Was in a van with the lift top so we could stand an look out and take pictures. We drove into a pride of Lions who were napping. They mostly just ignored us. They were "nice" kitties.

Ahhhhhhhhh, I see, not quite a hundred years later than the man-eaters killed stalking and eating tasty humans. Of course, I could be wrong, humans just might taste like shiite - I have no idea.

Could be worse, could the bears of Tsingtao. Beer-chugging bears from an industrial port city in China. Could be very troublesome if found in the United States.
