The Gun Counter

L.A. Police Gear recently had a bit of a boondoggle with their Tactical Pants and to make a long story short they ended up with a bunch of pants on sale. I needed some new work pants so I got some. At the time they were $13 a pair but are now $17, still a good deal though. I ordered them one size larger than I normally wear, just like the site tell you to do, and they fit great. The side cargo pockets have dividers inside, on about the size of an AR mag and the other the size of a double stack pistol mag. The lower leg pouches can fit 2 AR mags, but only one if you want to be able to close them. The front slit pockets, whose purpose eludes me, are just the right size for an AR mag to stick out just a little. The rear pockets are very similar to the one found on old BDUs.

The only problem I have had with them is that one of the Velcro waist adjustment tabs came off, but given what I paid for the pants and how minor I felt the issue is I am not going to return them or anything. The pants are made of some sort of ripstop poly/cotton blend and fell pretty rugged without being heavy. Unfortunately I can't really compare them to ACUs since I have never worn ACUs but they do compare quite favorably with my army surplus BDUs. The cargo pockets are not as big, but they really don't need to be for what I do. I checked them out for signs of sloppy stitching and while perhaps not as precise as 5.11 they are certainly acceptable. Certain aspects, such as the slash pocket reinforcement, vertical slit pockets, and plastic D rings fell a bit gimmicky, but for $17 it's not a problem. All in all I am quite impressed with the pants and will probably order more.

The exact instructions are: ""These pants run true to size, and are built so that the maximum size they can be will be the size that you ordered. The waist cinch system will then allow you to tighten them up as needed. Some customers are finding they need to order one waist size larger than they normally wear for 5.11 pants."

Hey, Kommander - awesome post, but I have to add something. The $50 originals are now on sale for $19.99, which is just $2 more than the ones you mentioned. They are backordered 'til January, but I wanted to let everyone know.

I went to the website to buy a couple pair of the pants. Got them, saw the black fleece shirts on sale and bought a size small for my daughter to wear under her soccer jersey this season; saw the denim jacketson sale and bought one for my son.
And UPS says they'll arrive Christmas Eve.

LAPG has some great stuff. Wife and I picked up two pairs of the FUBAR pants, I'll testify to the size comments. They were out of 36x34, what I usually buy so I can carry IWB, so I bought 34W, and they're snug. I think that these might go right into the BOB, because they're a good spare pair with lots of pockets to carry things. I don't think it'll be very comfortable to carry a loaded AR mag on your calf, but it would be a great place for a first aid kit, or something light and not too bulky. The inner cargo pocket organizers are pretty cool.

They're made out of the same material that the old summer weight camouflage utilities, so they should stand up to abuse pretty well. I was unable to find the sewing mistakes on ours.
