I ran across this over at Mad Ogre's. For all those without side rails on their AKs, or don't like the side mounts, this may be the answer. LaRue has come out with a red dot/iron sight combo that replaces the stock rear sight on AK rifles. Not cheap, like most LaRue stuff...

Considering it includes the optic..
I honestly think it would sell better if he just sold the mount to fit a variety of Reddots, like Optimas/Jpoints/etc.

For those of us who are stuck with AK variants sans a side rail (being in NJ and all), it's a consideration.
Hell, I dropped $250 for the Krebs Custom rail for my MAK-90 and it's optic-free. But it's rock solid.

Simply remove your AK's rear sight
I bet they didn't write that with a straight face.

C'mon, all you need are 3 hands with the gripping power of a silverback gorilla, a special clamp, bandages, disinfectant and antiseptic ointment

You forgot the beer.

With or without beer, the best way is to buy
the tool.

I removed an AK rear sight by putting the gun between my legs, placing a large screwdriver against the hinge end of the sight leaf, and giving it a good whack with the heel of my palm. It'll fly off if you don't put a towel around it.

Is the towel to stop the bleeding?

or the tears of laughter by anyone who happens to watch you hammering on a gun that is positioned between your legs?
