I would probably put two in my car and go hell for leather.

I am a little leery of harnessing the power band,it needs to be shifted higher. Plus the estimates seem a little high.

The website doesn't seem to have enough math to back it up, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of it.

wouldnt surprise me if it were possible... ive heard a lot of people estimate that a good % of a gallon of fuel is wasted...

If it works as the inventor states it does, it could give us what we Americans want. ie: Let us drive a big ass car with good fuel economy. Might get GM going again. On the other hand, it would have a negative effect on the big oil companies. Less demand for gas would put a hurt on that industry.

My guess is that our government won't let it happen. I think they'd rather do nothing and try to deal with the current scenerio than try to deal with a possible oil industry meltdown.

The big three applied for bailout and GM and Crysler climed they would be out of business next month without the money.

Funny how there was no peep of this impending doom until after they applied for the $$$.

This would hurt the oil companies much less than you would expect. Oil can do many many things other than run your car. If mogas and diesel become unprofitable to make they will just cut back and turn it into plastics, rubber and other commodities. That would not be a bad thing. It would probably hurt some of the smaller, less diversified refiners, but you pays your money you takes your chance. Welcome to capitalism.

This engine looks like vapor to me, yes he has a prototype, but if it REALLY works, then he needs to suck it up and run it on fuel, drop it in a car and show the world. He can Tell everyone it will get 150mpg, if he wants traction he must SHOW the world it works.

Why is it that the only vids available show it running only on compressed air? He even comments in the vid about "running it (in a car) on ambient air - the tanks were empty..." - he lost me a bit with that...

Anyhow, it sure is an interesting concept, especially the bit about being able to bolt on another piston assembly to increase power output - it's easy to envision scaling to meet almost any need, but as has been said the transmission gearing would have to be very tricky...

I think, if it works, it would make an excellent replacement for IC engines used in diesel-electric hybrids in locomotives, etc. Something where turbines don't work due to the exhaust temperature, but which doesn't require any extensive transmission work.
