I ran across these guys over at Sky & Telescope, where they mentioned Nite Ize's LED replacements for Maglite bulbs. Sky & Tel showed their LED replacement for the mini maglites, $9.95, with several colors available (red light for astronomy, of course). They have some other interesting flashlight accessories too.

They're out of Boulder, Colorado, looking at some of their other stuff I believe it.

They are going to shit when they get a lot of LEO/Military sales.

I used their Lite-Ride product when I was in college to comply with the school's headlight rules for bicycles. It didn't matter how bumpy the road was, the flashlight didn't move from its spot. The bike and the Mini-Maglite are both gone (the bike got sold, the light got dropped into a sewer grate by a clumsy ex-roommate who thought he'd lost his keys) but I know at least one of their products works well.

I got the tailcap button and LED upgrade for my 2AA Maglite, and -- honestly -- I've never looked back. I've never regretted the purchase for a moment. Even if the light wasn't one bit brighter (and, oh, it is!) the battery savings ALONE have made up for it. People are right when they say for a *touch* more you can grab a professional-level taclight, but for those of us who don't have a touch more, you just can't go wrong with NiteIze. I am very, very pleased.
BTW, I missed out - why would they get way more dotmil requests?
EDIT: Oh, and their "fiber optic adapter"? One HELL of a great bore light!
EDIT2: My ADD is killing me, here. So, the last time we talked about this, Chris B. gave me THIS LINK to a wonderful little outfit called
flashlightlens. They have awesome deals on glass lenses that will increase your shinyness by 10%, so I put that on my MiniMag, too. Good stuff!

They have some neat stuff, and us gunnies are a lot more into gear than your average bear. This means lots of military and LEO's as well. There are a few things I might order for the next care package...
I ought to call and ask for a discount.

Lowes carries their flashlight stuff, though what's available will vary with the individual stores. Usually up front near the registers.

Their carry pouches are good, but I had one of their LED conversions in a Mini Maglight and it was a POS, that eventually failed. The tail cap switch that came with it was also poorly made.

I've got one of their belt pouches, which I use as part of my EDC. (The small utility pocket, IIRC.) It holds my Surefire G-2 Nitrolon, my Sprint Mogul cell phone, my Doc Allen Versadriver, a pen-shaped mini screwdriver, and a Bic lighter. When I get around to buying one, I'll be adding a Leatherman or Gerber multitool as well.
