One is curious as to what the story is behind this machine. Some CO's pet project? A base museum that is downsizing? Lost in the motor pool for several decades?

Curious is where the Depression Era cars are coming from.

Maybe our Uncle seized the assets of somebody for taxes or civil forfeiture and is auctioning it all off?
It says NON-DLA Disposition Services Property in the box on the right, so maybe that's what it is?
ETA: That 47 Ford with the Desoto Hemi is cool, and the 1930 Model A 5-window is a seriously nice piece of tin!

opening bid was only $25.
Not that I could afford maintenance even if I bought it for $25.

You do not want a half-track. They're seriously expensive to maintain. A good idea, once, that turned out to be not so good an idea. It needs to be in a museum, somewhere, or parked out front of the VFW.

Yeah, cool, but even less practical than a deuce and a half. Which is what SOME people would want as a bug-out vehicle. A good idea only if you have a motor pool.

Maybe somebody WANTS a really expensive, time-consuming hobby.

Opening bid will be $25 until the auction actually starts. Expect meteoric rises in cost over the 3 days it's live.
