I'm looking for a new gun case. My numerous soft sided cases serve their purposes well, but I'm looking for something I can toss in the back of my car under luggage for hours on end.
Ideally I'm looking for a case that will hold two rather long and scoped ARs: 1-AR10, 1-AR15, uppers separated from lowers if needed, plus a couple of magazines.
Anybody know of such a beast?

Pelican make a great case, not cheap but will last you a lifetime. Here is a link

I use cheap, Dosko cases for tossing in the car -- My Pelican is great, but very heavy.

Long term, the Pelican in the car is good, just put desiccant in it, and spray the foam with silicone spray.

I had a poor experience with the latest Pelican cases. Both cases popped all of their latches on a recent airline trip.clyde621 wrote:Pelican make a great case, not cheap but will last you a lifetime. Here is a link

I know you said trunk of your car, but for the same money - about $200, you can get a Boyt case with steel draw latches that won't pop on impact if you drop it. http://www.luggage.com/Boyt-Harness-Co% ... C1031.html

Somone else (maybe you) recommended this item to me in another thread. I've been looking at the H2 online, and it talks about traveling, but I cannot find anything specific about locks or locking the thing for airline travel. Don't mean to hijack the thread, as I Rusty's just looking for something tothrow in his car, but...can you tell me for sure that the H2 has some means of locking it that the airlines and TSA will be happy with?D5CAV wrote:clyde621 wrote:I know you said trunk of your car, but for the same money - about $200, you can get a Boyt case with steel draw latches that won't pop on impact if you drop it. http://www.luggage.com/Boyt-Harness-Co% ... Re: Looking for a gun case
The problem with the SKB cases is that they have the TSA locks (at least, the ones I have seen do). Unless the regs have changed recently, you are specifically prohibited from giving the TSA a key to the hard case that firearms are transported in. Using a case that they already have a key to would seem to violate the spirit of that.

I recommended this case for your air travel question.drice wrote:Somone else (maybe you) recommended this item to me in another thread. I lock it with master padlocks. I get a 6-pack keyed the same at the hardware store. The case has two hasps for padlocks. Each case gets two padlocks. I just hand one key to the TSA-person.
This is the same locking provision as the Storm and Pelican cases. I haven't used the Storm and I discussed my issues with the Pelican on a number of threads.
