One thing that I could never find for a good price was long pouches for submachine gun mags. I needed them for my PS90, and it turns out, this also fits the Glock 33 round mags pretty well. You'd probably want to stuff the bottom with something to keep the base up enough to grab for reloads. These size/shape pouches are damn impossible to find for a good price. I figured you guys with pistol caliber carbines that run the long mags may want to pick up a few.

I think that what they have on the website is just the carrier. Plenty of places will sell the armor inserts. Doesn't make it right though. Still might save you a buck.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up. But jeez - there's nothing to be done, but I bought myself all new civil unrest gear (a la LA riots) a year ago or whenever. Remember when I posted on my war belt in coyote you commented on? Anyway, I dumped a crapload of money into that and a vest, and it was all Tactical Tailor gear. 35% off would've been great, but you can't predict these things. Oh well.

But I still need a small radio pouch, so maybe I'll grab that depending on what shipping costs.

I wound up getting an active shooter bag and what they call a first responder pouch. I love the design of their active shooter bag. The first responder pouch is similar to what the Marine Corps calls a Combat Lifesaver Bag, but I'm going to set it up to be my SHTF medical bag, and it'll ride in the truck full time.

I found both of them on the web site. What about the active shooter bag did you like?

I like it because its so thin. Perfect for sliding under or behind a seat in a car, or since it has MOLLE on the back, clipped to a larger pack as a resupply bag. I also think that if you attach another strap around the bottom, you could wear it like a simple chest rig if you so chose.

I did have a war belt, but I didn't have much attached to it. A pistol, a knife, a dump pouch, and a few spare mags. Now I'm a huge fan of having the IFAK on the belt. It really frees up a lot of real estate on your armor, and as long as you place it somewhere that makes sense, it doesn't impede your sitting ability or your ability to draw a secondary.

My current war belt is much more well-equipped. Very similar to yours.

I never thought about sliding it under a seat. Question: if you don't mind, what all are you going to put in it?

And I decided to drop the hammer on the Tactical Tailor Radio Pouch (Small) I've been wanting. I wanted something I can mount to the strap of my vest so I can use my radio (the mini Yaesu or a Talkabout) without removing it from the pouch. It should be here in a couple of days. Maybe I'll do a review.

Which is why speaker mics were invented. During public service events my amateur HT usually rides in a belt pouch, jacket pocket or back pack pocket and I use the speaker mike for transmit/receive, and depending on the radio, channel/vol up and down. Sample of one for a Yaesu.

For more stealthy uses, I have an earbud/boom microphone for each HT. Keeps from advertising your position from the speaker of the radio and can help you hear in noisy environments.

For really noisy environments (marching band assembly area for a parade for instance), I have the Heil Traveler headset. You can get adapters for most radios, but being Heil, it is expensive.

For many of these headsets, you can get a VOX (Voice Operated Xmit)option, but then it becomes a case of when, not if, you're going to be transmitting something you don't mean to. I personally never use this feature on VHF/UHF HTs or mobiles.

Uncle Sam's has chest rigs for $20.

They're part of the Marine Corps' Full Spectrum Battle Equipment (FSBE) gear set. I dont't know if these come with the straps to make them chest vice armor wearable, but those would be easy/cheap enough to fabricate.
