Coat liners for surplus wool coats

10+ years ago I bought a surplus swiss long wool coat; it was inexpensive and looked decent for that type but it didn't come with the liner and so isn't really usable when it gets cold enough. I have since seen the smaller size liners pop up for sale but never the big ones. So...
Anyone know if a liner for another coat (thinking the GI field coat liners on ebay) would be adaptable? I know the buttons won't line up but new button holes are not hard and snaps would be easy
