Good idea. I've been thinking about setting up my daughter's in basic Bugout Bags to take with in their cars. That's a nice tight package and provides a good core of items.

I see the packing list includes a 'votive candle' - I suppose that's for lighting in memory of Chesty Puller ?

Seems to me you could put together a comparable kit for less money at any outdoors show. Or a higher quality kit for the same price, tailored to your likely needs.

Yes, you could put together something similar, or better for the money, but as a present for someone who is not as "into" perpetration as we are, this looks like a nice compact kit for a fair price.
Being sealed up make it less likely for someone to "borrow" and forget to put stuff back, and is something they can throw into a trunk or under a seat and forget it until they need it.

None of that stuff is actually useful for any situation other than ones you will find yoursef in without it. Seems like 10 dollars worh of actual "supplies", and the rest is just stuff that looks cool to have.

Yup , their were a couple of those guys from that time that were just larger than life, "Take me to the Brig. I want to see the "real Marines". "

What a guy Chesty Puller was...
Regarding survival kits I switch off whenever I read the phrase 'escape and evasion' - the fishing kit always makes me laugh, especially nowadays when the nearest body of water large enough to contain any fish is over 70 klicks away...
I bought a US issue personal med kit a few years back and ended up replacing a lot of the contents because it's obviously geared to battlefield injuries. Still, I did get some good stuff included and it was a bargain.

I wasn't going to click on any other pages from that site, but I was too weak - now I have seen things I want but cannot buy
Meanwhile the shoulder holster for a bar code scanner has to be the ultimate REMF accessory
