Finally got NPR's riser mounted.

As you can see, the Kobra red dot is WAY up there. I was going to have to relegate it to a .22. But thanks to NPR, I can now get a good cheek weld while using the sight. And a commie sight remains on a commie gun. Somewhere in hell, Lenin is smiling.

I had to drill the holes near the comb because of the height of the sight. So the bolts protruded a bit too much because the stock is thinner near the top. A quick Dremel and all is good! Thanks NPR!

I did a lot of work with those Kobra's - must have stripped 50 of them for a project one time.
I'm not suggesting you strip yours, but if you did then the inside is definitely milspec type construction. Way too big and heavy but as durable as a T-34.

That cheek riser is spot on, just the job.

No issues with the top cover moving and losing zero ?

The rail is a Krebs flip-up. It's built like a brick shithouse (it should be for the ~$275 I paid for it a few years ago )and has so far held zero over 3 sessions of shooting/cleaning. I haven't really rung it out because of the lack of cheek weld issue. The Mak-90 doesn't have a side-rail. And there weren't any other high quality mounting options available when I bought the Krebs.

I like the Kobra. It's a PITA to sight in, it's heavy and huge, like you said, and the battery isn't very common. But I have a feeling I could drop it from the Empire State Building and it would still function fine.

Glad you like it and I'm glad it worked out. Looks like it came closer to not working than I would have liked, but all's well that ends well. There's a bit more drop to the comb than I'm used to with an AK stock, and as you say, the Kobra sight is WAAAAY up there.
