I have been trying to find some of the 3m hurricane protection / security film for windows. But I can only find it available with professional installation.
I don't want it for that use. I want it for my DIY bullet proof vest.
suggestions?
sources?

If you can find someone willing to sell to you, good luck. But on 3m's own site
http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/e ... inks/FAQs/
they have the following to say:
Can I install 3M Window Film myself?
No, 3M Window Films require professional application; our authorized 3M Window Film Dealers are thoroughly trained and experienced in performing high quality work. In this way, our customers will enjoy the benefits of 3M Window Films and have the comfort of the 3M warranty.
It's against their stated policy, they don't want individuals putting the stuff on themselves.

yes, but I was kinda hoping someone knew someone who could give me a couple of square feet of scrap for "testing".

Have you tried looking for one of the 3M Window Film Dealers? One may have some scrap on hand that they would donate to a worthy cause.

I have been a little too busy to do the appropriate kind of calling that would make that actually work, but I plan on doing just that next week.
Might just work, what with my sparkling personality and all.
