Keltec Sub 2000 mods

As some of you may remember, I keep a Sub 2000 in .40 in my truck. She lives in a tactical cardboard box behind my center console in the folded position. The cardboard box is tactical, because I custom assembled it with a flip top and used black gorilla tape as my assembling "glue". But I digress.

The LOP is not great, but folding / ease to conceal / low price trump all other issues. The short LOP does make shooting it accurately somewhat less than natural. As in, when I am at the range and I focus I can do quite well out to 75 yards. When tired / stressed or a situation where I really NEED it; I am less than confident. So I am considering modding it to wear a scope. I am aware of a method to keep the utility of folding, but am concerned for scope longevity with this method.

Using this technique would something like the $50 tru-glo he has last?

I am buying a Lucid HD7 for the GF's zombie AR, perhaps getting one of those for the Sub 2000.

I can't bring myself to spend Eotech money on a gun I spent $200 on and that lives in a cardboard box in my truck. Not to mention I am not so sure of the potential for damage from the unique mounting option.

Suggestions?

Kel-Tec offered a factory fore-end replacement assembly that incorporated a folding scope mount for standard 1" tube scopes. I've got one on my Sub2K. I have a shotgun scope on it with extended eye relief, not really necessary but nice to have. It folds to the side and allows the Sub to fold in half as normal. It seems to me to hold zero well enough that I have no troubles with it on the range. I don't know if they still sell the mount, but I imagine they can be found.
