Home surveillance

So, I am in the initial phases of having some home surveillance installed. The intent is two-fold. First, we are hiring a new nanny, and I want to maintain surveillance on her while she is caring for my daughter. Second, I want to place an outdoor camera pointed at the front door and garage for security. I want to be able to access live feeds from the internet, and I want to be able to record images. On the side, I am also interested in putting in a driveway chime to alert me when someone starts to come up our driveway from the street.

I figure that this group ought to have a pretty good background in this stuff, and could point me in the right direction, and tell me about pitfalls.

So, please let me know what your thoughts are.

Thanks!

I still haven't purchased my system. I've been too busy working on other peoples' homes to work on mine... shoemaker's kids...
