Looking for a Tablet? AWESOME Woot deal 5/25/11 ONLY

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

Looking for a Tablet? AWESOME Woot deal 5/25/11 ONLY

Post by Dedicated_Dad »

TODAY (5/25/11) ONLY - Samsung Galaxy Tab for $259.99!

They're usually no less than $300 - and that requires a 2-year commitment with a wireless contract.

These are Wifi and 3G (Sprint) but require no contract! Just turn off the 3G and enjoy!

Alternatively, you could get a data-plan to go with it from Sprint, and use the "hotspot" capability for other devices, but PERSONALLY I'll be doing the opposite - using the "wireless tether" on my smartphone to connect the Tab to the 'net when no wifi is available.

It also has a front-facing camera so it can be used for video-conferencing/skype/etc., and a 3MP rear-camera with "flash" for regular pics. No, 3MP isn't fantastic, but it's still decent...

All other specs detailed at above link...

This is an AWESOME deal. The *ONLY conceivable "drawback" is that it's a "refurb", but IMHO refurb is LESS likely to have problems than a "new" unit.

I've bought lots of refurb tech from Woot over the years and *NEVER* had a bad device.

I DID have a single "bad experience" - the accessories were missing from an apparently opened box. I e-mailed Woot and they sent me everything I was missing overnight-express so I had it the next morning *AND* gave me a small ($10 IIRC) "credit" for my trouble.

I have no relationship (except as a happy customer) with Woot - but this is a GREAT deal and wanted to share!

For that price get a Costco netbook.

I tried a Motorola Xoon on the Costco rental plan. I decided that I was better off with a netbook.

I LOVE the tablet I have (B&N "Nook") - small, easy to carry/handle, great battery life, countless free useful apps... There's more, but those should suffice!

I have a netbook-sized LT that I use all the time - and if I could only have one I'm sure I'd pick the LT, but they both have their niche...

No better deal on the Tabs than this!

tempting, if only for reading/viewing during daily cardio workouts. can't balance a netbook on the ellipical book ledge. :)

They were already sold out by the time I clicked the link yesterday.
