Check it out. The SST emitters can be pretty scary, this one packs an SST-90 in a light small enough to fit in your pocket.

What kind of heat do you think it would create if it was accidentally switched on while in your pocket?Durham68 wrote:Not sure if I'd want to put that in my pocket, but looks great for a back pack or night stand.
Note, DX (aka "everything cheap and Chinese") is a total crapshoot. I tend to be more risk-averse than some, and so have a much lower tolerance for no-name Chinese crapware. Some of that stuff really is the 'off label' generic equivalent of stuff you see sold under reputable labels for 2-3 times as much, but only some.CombatController wrote:There are a bunch here for less. $32 for a 900 anyone?
I don't have current draw figures for the emitter but what I do know is the estimated runtime, and the capacity (in mAh) and voltage of the battery. Doing a little math, with the light on high the battery will be supplying ~10 watts of power. If it's in your pocket, all of that would be turned into waste heat, heating up your coat lining.Windy Wilson wrote:So if one of these were to turn on accidently in your pocket or otherwise contacting something inflammable, would it set fire to that something?
I know of someone in HS who torched the inside of his car when a handheld spotlight set fire to his car seat.
