Hmm, how about a rechargeable maglite with a 5 watt LED Conversion?

I have the 6 cell "C" cell with the LED conversion. good light, lasts a WHILE and makes a decent club (just in case).

I've got 2 lights to choose from. One is a 5-D Mag with an older but similar conversion. The other is THIS, the Quark AA2 Tactical. The low setting is set to moonlight mode- 0.2 lumens, so I can get around the place or look in on something without losing my night vision or waking anyone up. The high setting is max - 206 VERY real (not marketing exaggeration) lumens for when I seriously want to see, and be the only person who can.

Which is why I suggested it - Roughly 12.5" inchs long(roughly the same size as a 3D Maglite) and with the charger acting as hanging hook, you don't have to worry about batteries being dead.

Try any CREE light from Deal Extreme, all are bring and will do the trick.

That or use one mounted on the weapon of your choice.

(Cue some wise-ass who posts a pic of a claymore with a light on it. No, not that kind of claymore, the other kind.)

Also, do something so the flashlight won't roll off or be knocked off the night stand. This will keep you from ever having to grope for it in the dark.

For an anti-rolling contrivance I suggest perhaps 4 short pieces of 1/4" dowel taped somewhere around the grip to make a sort of square part.
