On sale for $79.99 for two from Costco.

The pros:

This thing is built like a tank. I thumped it in my hand a few times, and it feels sturdy. It's got a little bit of heft to it.

It runs on 'C' batteries. They're a lot cheaper than CR123A batteries.

It's bright.

It's got two brightness settings and a strobe.

The cons:

The way the control works there isn't a way to choose the setting that you want. You click it once, it's bright. Twice it's not as bright, and the third time it's strobe.

It was worth forty bucks, and you can't have too many flashlights.

My wife would disagree (she bitches about them being all over the place - yet she can always find one when she needs it).

I'm sorry, I can't stand C batteries. I typically only have one thing in my house that uses them, so I never remember to buy them when I'm at a store, they cost the same or more than D cells, with less runtime, and (in the case of flashlights) less heft in case I need to use the thing as an impact weapon.

I've heard many times from folks in hurricane or tornado country that C batteries are usually the last ones to sell out during emergencies... A potential advantage

I have some c cell lights for that reason (an Inova Radiant, some upgraded 2 and 4 cell maglights, and two Rayovac 3-c units). And a 'battery drawer'. ;)

That's a good point, Rich. I hadn't thought of that.

Keep your battery supply up. If you buy in bulk from places like www.batteryjunction.com , you can get good pricing.
