NPR,
remember your topic from 2008 about the then pending ban on good gas cans?
Look at this auction...
here
I wish I'd bought more! (I wish I could have afforded mode actually...)

I was getting ready to build carriers for mounting my fuel cans to the Jeep anyway, and going back and forth about what to build. Anyway, seeing this auction made up my mind for me. Today I finished putting together the first of two that I am building to be mounted on the heavy duty bumper and tire carrier combo that I am building for the back of ze Jeep. Essentially, I've reinvented the ammo can, sized to hold fuel cans. It will hold either the NATO cans, or the US made Blitz style cans (which are inferior). I'm going to line the inside with some rubber mat to keep the cans from bouncing around, and I still need to come up with a good locking hasp, but at least I have them built to the point where the bumper project can proceed. These should do a fair job of keeping my fuel cans out of the weather, out of sight of prying eyes, and should keep them safe from theft during the limited times when I will actually be carrying the cans on trips.

Okay... But first you must bring me a [strike]shrubbery[/strike] 16 ga. pan brake, and a foot shear.

I picked up a metal Jerry can at a moving/garage sale for $5, but it's missing the lid/spout.

They are still available at various places. Did you get the cam lock (NATO) style, or the threaded US style?

Anyone have any experience with the ATV fuel cells? They are made by Koplin hold 4 gallons and can stack. What I have read, they do not leak. And Wall Mart selss them for around 70 bucks, a bit expensive, but cheaper than a new tank if one can even get one.

According to one website that has them, they have a CARB compliant spout, so they can't be all that good.
