The Gun Counter

I have no experience of these, but I dislike getting snow, rain, mud, grass, twigs and blood on my optics.

What type / brand does anybody use and like, or are there any pet hates, tips or tricks?

Butler Creek seems to be the market leader. I see that someone has also come up with flip-up covers for the little Docter / Burris Fastfire sights too.

They tend to come off during recoil. I used the sizing chart that you can find here, and the covers seemed to fit the scope, but under a heavy firing string, the momentum of the gun and the inertia of the cover combines to work the front cover off the objective. I've even thought about running a line of perma-tex under the cover to provide an adhesive seal. I haven't done it, but I've thought about it. The only time I've had this problem is on the bench, working up loads or burning old ammo for the brass.

In the field, they work great.

**chuckle** If you're getting blood on your optics, you might be shooting a little too close.

I prefer the blizzard because I can get a snap shot off since the windows are clear.

Many of my rifles, I just use a bikini cover. I've lost as many as I have, but at $6 each, I don't cry too much.
