Hi guys...
Stopped in a gun-shop today, just killing time... In the knife case was a wild looking multi-tool, I'd never seen anything like it before.
First, the pliers are slip-joint, and like channel-locks or a pipe wrench are angled in such a way that they bite better the more pressure is put on them. That's pretty cool...
Add in the adjustable wrench on the other end - and it's pretty darn awesome.
But there's more! A diamond file with a flat, concave and convex surfaces, an incredibly sharp blade, and 6 different screwdriver tips (3 flat/3 phillips) and the ability to take any 1/4" bits?
Nice!
The icing on the cake is that the two halves can separate, so you can use the screwdriver and adjustable wrench at the same time.
AWESOME!
Did I mention it's a Spyderco, and that I paid < 1/3 of retail?

Only difference I can see is mine has a small flat-driver instead of the "hole starter" on the end of the file...

My problem with multi-tools is primarily the pliers. The stainless steel is too soft to cut wire or put sufficient force on a problem that might need pliers, so I end up carrying a pair of tool-steel pliers.
The pliers plus a swiss army knife, plus my usual pocket knife take care of any problem I would solve with a multi-tool just a little more weight and about 1/5 the cost.

These are plenty hard for any job they're able to do, and have no wire cutter (weakness) but I know what you mean...
I don't see it (or any such tool) as a real tool-kit. It is, to me, a way of having handy the things I might need for small, quick jobs without having to resort to going wherever to get "real tools."
If I'm at home, I'm going to the toolbox. If I'm working and (for example) have a bunch of racks to set up, I'm bringing proper tools. A multi-tool like this is - for me - something to keep handy for when I run into some quick job that can't be done with just my fingers but isn't involved enough to make it worth the time to go get real tools from the truck or (who knows how far) to the office or whatever.
This little thing is a fantastic piece of kit for that purpose. Its designer deserves kudos for his ability to squeeze so many well-made functions into such a compact package yet leave all of them able to do their intended job as well as any similarly-sized individual tool.
