IIRC, Weaver is now owned by Meade Instruments, which is a Taiwanese company. I'm not sure I'd pay that much for glass made in the Philippines, China or Taiwan.

I've got the same opinion, but I'd like to pick up a decent scope for my .22 in the near future, and I just can't afford American or European manufacturers. I think I'm just going to settle for buying from someone who's not communist. I like Taiwan a hell of alot more than I like China.D5CAV wrote:IIRC, Weaver is now owned by Meade Instruments, which is a Taiwanese company. Leupold buys theirs from Japan as well.

For the same price as these Philippine made Weavers, you can get a Zeiss Conquest - made in the USA: http://www.zeiss.com/c1256bcf0020be5f/C ... 68006b554d
