I could see putting one of these in my Newbie Support Bag. This, a poncho, and 50 feet of shroud line (aka paracord) you could live pretty well. And I'll bet it's lighter than my preferred multi-tool, which is a roofing hammer.

Be warned - they appear to be two pieces welded together, rather than a single forging. There has been at least one failure because of that. They're instock at Amazon by the way, for 45 bucks.

Another option is one of the Stanley Fubars.

I have the 18 inch, picked up mine at home depot. Works well for me but it does get heavy after swinging it all day
