Magazine springs and lubricant

Post by doc Russia »

First, I hope this is the right forum.
Any administrator should feel free to move this thread to the appropriate topic if I am wrong.
This means you, CC ;)
So, I took my suppressed 6.5 Grendel out to the range with some of the local SWAT boys.
It was cloverleafing from 25 yards kneeling despite me having forgotten my sling. I am very happy with these results.
Unfortunately, I was using (relatively) cheap ammo, and had a few issues with hard primers, primers coming out, etc.
I also had a malfunction caused by the magazine I had brought. It's a C-products mag, and the issue came from fouling causing impaired follower rise. That is, the dirty rounds and dirty inside of the mag created stoppages when the next round failed to rise enough to be stripped from the mag. So, I am going to fix this, and try to fix this in a definitive manner. My plan is to tear apart my mags, thoroughly clean them, coat the inside with some sort of permanent lube/protection, and then reassemble them with higher power springs.

My question to the considerable expertise present in this forum is;
1. What lubricant would you recommend for the inside of a magazine which would decrease friction and resist the process of fouling?
2. What extra strength magazine springs would you recommend for 30 round Stanags which are not likely to be changed out ever again?

As always, thanks for the input, I value it highly.
