The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

Revisit my coffeehouse anecdote in aglifter's 'how to ask out nice girls' thread. You can figure out which girl was which.

probably the best bet is to compare the advertised .5 micron capability of the CTD filter (see it's shorter chubby sister that comes with a sock for $29) to the Berkey micron rating. I don't know what it is, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's probably a little better.
I went with the Katadyn gravity system that uses 3 candle style filters. It was reasonably priced and has excellent capabilities.
For general use I imagine these would be fine. It's much better than nothing and the price is good. Remember to use food grade buckets. Also get more than one filter so you can get more water per day. 6 filters would run you the same as the katadyn system and give you two complete units. You do need to get spigots and buckets on your own. Somehow I think you will manage.

It surely beats trying to figure out what the metrosexuals want ( a good hard kick in the nuts in my opinion, but that won't sell ice cream :D )- Highspeed
