Some of you may remember a thread from the old forums where I asked about places to shop in NJ. Well I found one that worked well enough for me.
Place called Caso's Gun-A-Rama in Jersey City. Very easy to get to, not so great on parking. The area looks somewhat shady, but it seems to be more a blue-collar area that never quite turned into ghetto than actual, well, ghetto. So pay attention, but you don't need armed escort.
Prices are a touch high, but the service was delightful. Made me feel right at home- almost literally, if some of you are familiar with how nice, middle-aged Italian ladies can be. This may have been more important to me, as a first time buyer, than to others.
I picked up new a 4" 686 and a 4" 10 shot 617. Love them. Well with one caveat.
I'm pretty sure the 617 will have to go back to Smith, there are some machining marks deep inside one of the cylinder chambers (can't see the problem without a flashlight, that's a lesson I have definitely learned- don't buy a gun, ANY gun, new or used, without bringing a bloody flashlight) that I don't think I want to live with. Smith's quality control really is hit-or-miss these days.

Maybe we're just jaded, but your villainy is not particularly impressive. -Ennesby

Re: Bought some stuff
thankfully, they are quick to take care of any problems.
I had a problem with 627PC. After firing a couple of cylinders full, there was a chip in the frame.

I called them, they sent a box and I sent it back. They replaced the frame and that was that.
