The Gun Counter

I've heard these guys advertising on local radio in the early morning the last few days. They claim they'll order any gun for you, and charge $35 over cost. Sounds too good to be true... I'll link to their fine print page. It contains a local phone number, though it doesn't show their address, which the radio ads do give. Hmmmmm.

I would run from them as hard as I would go. There fees will eat you alive.

I agree with clyde. That's a lot of fine print.

So how this this help if you don't happen to live within driving distance, and/or in the same state, of their location? They won't ship.

The storage fee, #6 and #7 are bad. But this,

is also cause for concern.

"Well, we couldn't find X gun at A, so we had to look at B and C which is going to cost you an extra $50."

I feel bad for you guys - you should find a good kitchentable dealer, who will charge you a flat rate of 20-40 bucks for the transfer, whether it's buying the gun from another party out of state, or ordering from a wholesaler like RJR or Davidsons..

The Armory In Mesquite Texas charges me $20 for a transfer. They are also a NFA dealer, so you can have those Suppressors and other goodies shipped there.

Well, I have a guy here in town who'll do an FFL transfer for $15, last time I checked. The range I go to upped their price to $30. The range claims they sell guns to members for cost plust 10%, though their prices don't seem that hot anymore (one example, last time they had a Taurus 1911 on the shelf it had gone up from $600 to $700). What's a typical margin on gun sales? I've heard that it's not really a lot.

Most merchant accounts do not allow that. Gun shops do it all the time, but they can get in big trouble for it.
