A couple months ago I registered on the other forum, and mentioned in my intro thread that I was about done with my first NFA toy. Someone asked for an update when I had it done, so here it is.
Well, after a lot more waiting than I wanted to do, it's finally 'done' (these projects are never completely done, are they?)
The first picture is about an 11" barreled upper chambered in 5.56, but it will most likely be an almost permanent home for a .22lr conversion kit. It needs a little paint before I call it done.
The second picture is the original plan behind the SBR, a 5.5" barreled upper in 9mm. I have a couple rail protectors I need to cut down before I install. This upper was a blast with the 16" barrel, I can't wait to try it out now!
I just got these together this afternoon, and I'll be heading out tomorrow to try them out. I'll report back tomorrow with an AAR, and I should have some action shots if all goes well.

Very nice. If you don't mind me asking, are they full rock-n-roll also, or just SBR?

While I agree it may be pointless at times it is still fun.
I had an SBR FAL that was stupid as hell, and everytime I pulled the trigger I knew
it.
I never got it to group better than a bathtub.

2. To keep off the shelf production ammo sub sonic. I'm going to get a can for it eventually, and until then, I have a friend who has one who'll let me borrow it while we're at the range together. I'm sure I could get much better results from handloads, but I only have a single stage press, and until I get a progressive, I'd like to have some fun with production ammo.
As for the 5.56 upper, the barrel was used, and the price was hard to beat. That's really the only reason. It will be used for .22lr almost exclusively, and just for plinking, and it should perform that job nicely.

Just got back from the 'range'
Fortunately, nothing out of the ordinary to report.
We ran about 300 rnds through the .22 upper, and had 3 or 4 failures, most of them were FTE's I have a suspicion the extractor is just dirty.
Also ran about 100 through the 9mm upper without a hitch.
As fun as the 9mm is, I have to say that .22 is a freakin blast!
Fortunately, nothing out of the ordinary to report.
