BIT Electronic Ignition, as primers hit 89¢ each...
I realize this sounds a bit steam punk, but it seems like it would be possible to rotate bullets into one chamber, and "pelleted" powder into another, and electronically ignite it - essentially, how an injector port works in an engine.

Yes but it wouldn't be safer or more convenient than cartridge ammunition.

It sounds like a solution in search of a problem to me.

Exactly, electric primed ammo has its uses, but being simpler and easier to make are not advantages of that method.
I think the actual suggestion is direct electric ignition. This should be possible in theory, but I see a number of difficulties in implementing it at scale.

Maybe start with an electrically primed muzzleloader? Have the base plug set up with a pair of electrodes hooked to a battery or capacitor and a switch linked to the trigger. Black powder should be easier to ignite than smokeless, too.

This happens Everytime there's an ammo shortage, as components are basically overflow from ammo production. Hence the great primer shortage of 94, the component disappearance of the Obama administration, and the current nonexistence of handloading components during the current ammo squeeze.
Components, particularly primers, are always the first to disappear and the last to return to normal during an ammo squeeze. Which is why...

Hell, I think it’s a better idea than making my own corrosive primers - they’re simpler than the lead styphanate ones…

Shouldn't you be able to accomplish it with two contacts and a heating element?
It should be possible to do that with a match lock.

Wow, I have 50,000 primers. Are they worth close to 50k?
