10mm Magnum

Until this morning, I was unaware of the existence of this. Not sure if I just lumped 10mm and 10mm magnum together as the same thing or if I had never heard of it before.

40 Short and weak 180 gr at 950
10 mm .. ... ... .. 200 gr at 1200 fps
10 mm Magnum ... 200 gr at 1500+ fps

That Sir is gonna leave a mark.

I am thinking a stout 6 gun would be the ticket, but it seems like there are some semi auto options as well.

Ive mentioned it here before, mostly in relation to the idea of necking it down to 9mm/.357 and shooting it in an ar carbine ( how does a 158 grain hollow point at north of 2000ft/sec grab ya?), using form dies from 9x25 dillon and a spacer.

I have a feeling that bullet would be a frangible upon impact, but otherwise it sounds awesome.

It sounds like an, ahem, good stopper..... but you'd want relatively stout bullets. IIRC, I have some 158gr .357 mag defense loads, and they're only like 1200 fps.

Why not go down to 32 Cal / 8mm (323) and then you could use rifle bullets as an option. An 8mm 125 grain hollow point would be quite effective I would think.

You would likely run into COAL issues with the long pointy rifle bullet, but otherwise, it might work. You may also run into being below the needed velocity for mushrooming at 2000 fps or below.

Thats based on 10mm brass, not 10mm magnum.

And oh, Hornady sells 180 grain .357 hollowpoints, meant for use in .357 maximum. Theyd probably work well in this application.
